A new step towards inclusive education!

ZOBF “Blago” in cooperation with UN Women in Ukraine and the UN Women’s Peace and Humanitarian Fund (WPHF) is developing a unique methodological manual!

As part of this initiative, a manual is being created that will help adapt educational programs to the needs of the Roma community. It will become an important resource for civil society organizations, educators and activists seeking to expand opportunities for Roma women and girls.

The project united the efforts of four Roma and six Ukrainian women’s civil society organizations. The main goal is to overcome educational barriers that stand in the way of women from the Roma community.

What will the manual contain?

  • Practical recommendations for inclusive education
  • Gender equality and women’s rights
  • Social entrepreneurship
  • Violence prevention
  • Reproductive health

The program has already been tested in five communities in Ukraine: Odessa, Uzhhorod, Berehove, the village of Seredne (Zakarpattia region) and Zolotonosha (Cherkasy region), adapting the training to the life context, cultural characteristics and language barriers.

“We want not only to teach, but also to change the approach to inclusive education. It is important that Roma women not only receive knowledge, but also become active participants in the educational process,” the project initiators note.

The project is implemented by the Transcarpathian Regional Foundation “Blago” with the support of UN Women in Ukraine and funding from the UN Women’s Peace and Humanitarian Fund (WPHF), a flexible and operational funding instrument that supports quality interventions to enhance the capacity of local women to prevent conflicts, respond to crises and emergencies, and utilize key peacebuilding opportunities.
